In 1999 Dunedin Public Art Gallery curated an exhibition: ‘Regions of the Heart 25 Year Grahame Sydney Retrospective’ Dunedin Public Art Gallery.

The Hocken Library, University of Otago then took the exhibition, renamed it ‘On the Road; Thirty five Paintings by Grahame Sydney’ and toured New Zealand’s public galleries for three years from 1999 to 2002 to record attendance numbers.

The exhibition toured: Auckland Art Gallery – Toi o Tamaki; Centre of Contemporary Art, Christchurch; Pataka, Porirua Museum of Arts and Cultures, Porirua; Hawkes Bay, Exhibition Centre, Hastings; Suter Art Gallery, Nelson; Manawatu Art Gallery, Palmerston North; Southland Museum and Art Gallery, Invercargill; Rotorua Museum of Art & History; Millennium Public Art Gallery, Blenheim; Ashburton Art Gallery; Aigantighe Art Gallery, Timaru.
